How to Increase Your Clairvoyant Ability

Written by KateL on Friday, September 5th, 2008 in Self Help.

Do we all have Clairvoyant Ability?

Many people believe we were all born with psychic or clairvoyant abilities. However as we grow in the world we start to follow the mainstream way of thinking and overlook our potential for clairvoyant or psychic powers.

What is a Clairvoyant Ability?

A clairvoyant ability is seen as a spiritual gift and there are ways we can all develop these powers and unlock our own potential.

Exercises to Boost Clairvoyant Abilities:

Try these exercises to uncover your hidden clairvoyant ability.

1. The first one is an obvious one that we have all done and no doubt shown some success at.

When the phone rings next time try and visualise who is calling before you answer. Try this regularly and see if your success rate improves. Could you be exploring your clairvoyant ability?

2. This one you can try with a friends help. Try to predict what the number of the dice will be before they roll it. Perhaps start by just trying to predict odd or even. This can help you develop intuition.

3. To further develop your intuition and precognition try to predict events and scores at your favourite sporting event or when watching a game on TV. Start by predicting the winner and as you gain confidence move on to predicting the score or other match statistics.

4. Next time you are in a queue at say the bank try to predict which window you will get called to. With practice you should be able to improve this prediction.

5. To develop remote viewing clairvoyant abilities try to imagine before a business or social meeting what the other person will be wearing. Start with concentrating on colour and as you practice move on to greater details.

Write down your thoughts before the meeting so that you are sure to be honest with yourself.

6. When you are standing at the bar waiting to be served try to predict what drinks the person ahead of you will order. This can heighten your intuition skills.

7. Next time you are in the lift or elevator play a game at guessing which number button each new person who enters will press. This can help you develop precognition, clairvoyance and telepathy.

8. Another easy way to practice is with a friend and a pack of playing cards. Get your friend to turn over one card at a time and you just start by predicting red or black. If you can get your success rate up to 75% then expand your skills to predict the actual suit of the next card.

Clairvoyant ability can be developed with practice and patience. Try not to force the issue but incorporate these and other little exercises into your everyday life to learn to broaden your thoughts, develop your intuition and allow your natural clairvoyance to develop.

Beat Your Travel Alarm Clocks to the Draw!

Written by BradlleyMckoy on Friday, September 5th, 2008 in Self Help.

You have many of those infernal inventions man created to absolutely wreak havoc on your age-old biological patterns and decades-old psychological stability. And no, this is not the institution of marriage. These are travel alarm clocks - the types that scream like hellish banshees, explode like nuclear bombs, and buzz like millions of bees. (Come to think of it, when you have a spouse and kids, they do sound like those early in the morning)

And that is not the end of it - man has contrived to invent travel alarm clocks that give brain-cell frying electric shocks, call your cellphone contacts at unholy hours, and demand money like needy concubines if you do not wake up and kill, er, silence them.

Wake Up Early

Of course, you can skip the whole shebang when you wake up earlier than your travel alarm clocks. How to wake up early, you ask? Here are a few tips:

* Get a dog, especially a frisky puppy. Just imagine a puppy treating your face like an ice-cream lollipop, yapping in your ear, and nipping your tenders and you get the point. Besides, you rarely see a dog owner who is not an early riser, right?

A few words of caution are in order. A dog requires human care, often loads and loads of it. If you are not a pet lover, get travel alarm clocks that yip and yap like a herd of dogs and put them near your ears. Guaranteed to interrupt Sleeping Beauty herself, huh?

* Avoid sleeping pills even when you feel that you really need them to get a good night’s sleep. You will have a hard time waking up in the morning, often with a less-than-refreshed feeling due to the chemical after-effects of said pills including slurred speech and slow reflexes. How about drinking milk, reading a bedtime story, and counting sheep instead?

* Wake up to light, artificial and natural. You can have an early-riser in the house open the window to let in sunlight directly into your face or to turn on the bedside lamp. Have him do this before your alarm clock starts doing its thing.

If you are traveling, you can ask the maid to knock on your door and request the desk to ring your room. Better the phone ringing than banshees on your travel alarm clocks screaming, right?

Understand Sleep Mechanics

There are many of these sleep mechanics, which could take you awhile to memorize. But the most important is that trying to catch up on sleep during the weekends will not make up for your bad sleeping habits during weekdays.

If you can, you should follow your body’s natural pattern of sleep and wake cycles. Do not go to sleep unless you feel sleepy but do not deprive your body of much-needed sleep either. It is a fine balance between laziness and insomnia, which every normal person contends with.

You can consult self-help books on the matter, if you want more knowledge. The bottom line is the age-old adage of “Early to bed and early to rise makes a man, healthy, wealthy and wise”. This way, you need not bother with alarm clocks.

Now, if you could only become richer by inventing the best travel alarm clocks yet. You know the ones that wake you up with a kiss?

At ExecutiveGiftShoppe.com, you will find many a business card case or engraved business card holder and travel alarm clocks that will be pleasures to your life. No more screaming banshees, just gentle reminders.

5 Steps to Achieving Your Goals That Have Eluded You in the Past

Written by DeepakDutta on Friday, September 5th, 2008 in Self Help.

Whether you want to quit smoking, loose weight, or save enough money for that fabulous vacation, you need to set a goal and try to achieve it one step at a time. It is not always easy. For myriad reasons, we fall off the wagon and never bother to get on board.

A commitment to achieving your goal is the key to success. But knowing how to reinforce your commitment from time to time so that you don’t go astray is also important. Reinforcing commitments regularly reminds us to catch the next train when we miss the one we are on board. The techniques described in this article will help you in reinforcing your commitments to achieving your goals.

1. Set your goals in measurable terms and take small steps. Write your goals as precisely as possible. Instead of saying “I will loose weight”, write down “I will loose 30 lbs in the next three months”. Also, break it down into small steps. For example, “I will loose 10 lbs a month for three months.”

By setting your goals in measurable terms, you will have a solid idea of what successful completion of your goal means. By breaking down into small steps, you will be able to measure your success regularly and change your course if you are not meeting your intermediate goals.

2. Create a tag line for your goal. Marketers use tag lines to catch people’s attention to their offerings. Remember the famous Coca Cola tagline - always coca cola? Tag lines are short keywords and phrases that are easy to remember. Create a tagline for your goal.

For example, if you want to save for a vacation and you need to reduce your vending machine spending, you can create a tagline like, vending machine vacation. Print out a number of cards with your tagline and put them in places where your can see your tagline all the time.

The phrase in a tag line itself is not that important. What is important is the emotional attachment to the tagline. Speak out your tagline whenever you are alone, e.g. during driving, while taking a shower, etc.

3. Always day dream the success of completing your goal. As bad as it sounds, it is a very powerful tool. Once you get immersed in your day dreams, start developing emotional feelings about it. Make plans for all the things you are going to do once you have achieved your goal.

For example, plan for what you are going to do in your vacation, look around for dresses that you want to buy once you have lost those pounds, or open a new saving account where you want to put the extra money once you start reducing the number of cigarettes you smoke.

4. Start a blog. Personal blog is an excellent way to record your goals, intermediate successes and failures. Google offers a free blog platform called blogger. Create an account for the blogger service and start recording your goals, why you want to pursue it, what is holding you back and your feelings when you achieve success.

Start reading a few self improvement blogs, post comments on those blogs, and share links to those blogs in your own posts. You will get lots of good ideas and insights from others’ blogs and receive tips and encouragements from readers’ feedbacks in your own blog. Your blog will motivate others to take actions. You can also earn money from Google’s AdSense program.

5. Create a facebook group and invite others to join you in setting and achieving goals together. This is a new type of social support group using social media. You will learn from each others and share information to keep everybody on track. Publish your blog posts and other interesting and informative posts from other blogs in your facebook group.

To achieve your goal, you have to take small bites one at a time and measure your success regularly. You need to get engaged and develop emotional attachment to your goals. Online tools like blogs and facebook groups help you develop passions and share them with others.

An Alternative Healing Approach For Anger

Written by BartSharp on Friday, September 5th, 2008 in Self Help.

One of the greatest destructive forces on this planet is something that is occurring inside almost of us is suppressed anger. Suppressed anger stops you from accessing the energy and power of you. Another perspective to the cognitive approach of anger management this article explores the energy dynamics of the body and how it holds anger in us for years.

Suppressed anger can be a debilitating force in out lives. When we decide not to allow or be present with our anger we contain it inside us by creating a defensive position to the undesired emotion. “That was horrible, I do not want any of that in my life!” The avoidance or judgment that it is bad or wrong is the beginning of creating a defensive barrier to make sure that the circumstance does not happen again. Unfortunately it encapsulates the energetic memory so it cannot leave on its on accord.

We perpetuate that suppressed energy by feeding it more energy/anger in a variety of manifestations such as: resentments, depression, control, worry, guilt, expression of anger and more. It addition these concealed energies are the source for much of our aliments, pains, sickness, depression and addictions in our body. It is an energetic maze of suppressed memories. How much more energy you would have for you if you were not consciously and unconsciously struggling against the anger within you?

Our present day-to-day anger feeds the old suppressed anger that is underneath our current traumas. If you have ever thought that your resentments, mistrusting thoughts or fears seem to have a mind of their own like they pop up without any reason. There is some truth to it. Our oldest wounds are still hidden within us and they thrive by unconsciously stimulating us to recreate a dilemma that feeds our older anger. The payoff for these old wounds is that they energetically stay alive by feeding off our present day angers.

For example, a person may have been severely punished by their overly critical mother during their childhood. As an adult they may harbor huge resentments to their mother yet they may say something like, “I have dealt with those issues. I have explored hours on end of the history of how my mother hurt me. I am at peace with it.” Yet in their life they may be slightly depressed, have outburst of anger that is hurtful to others and/or mistrusting of others. They are generally fine but become triggered to some of the above behaviors from time to time.

The issues have been explored intellectually but have not addressed the body’s memory of the experience. If we can relive a part of the experience then feel it in our body we begin to get in touch with our body’s awareness. Most of us have avoided this all of our lives because we thought that feeling this intensity in us would bring back the pain. It is quite the opposite we begin a process of really letting it go. It also teaches how to be present with anger. An very important aspect to reliving the anger is not to judge it, allow the experience of it be in you nurturing that part of you that is still in the trauma of the past.

When we break down suppressed anger to its most basic/primal level we see that it is only energy. In my Access Energy Transformation class “Knowing Your Anger, Claiming Your Potency” or in private sessions we open the wounds and allow us to be present with the energies of our suppressed angers. It is an exploration in a gentle, vulnerable way and using energy clearings of Access Energy Transformation the anger leaves permanently.

What happens when our deepest suppressed anger is gone? A weight is lifted and many of us experience a lightness that we have never known before. Awareness that has been blocked by the anger shows up in our lives in ways such as: intuitive or psychic abilities, creativity, joy, inner serenity and more energy. We become more of the embodiment of ease, joy and glory. Receiving is easier than ever before as suppressed anger cuts out so much of what we can have in life.

Top 3 Ways to Stay Connected to the Outdoor

Written by DonJacobson on Thursday, September 4th, 2008 in Self Help.

Love the great outdoors? If you’re the type who would rather be hiking up a mountain or rafting down a river that controlling the remote, you know exactly what I mean. I’m always amazed when someone tells me their ideal vacation requires a hotel room with 100 channels on the remote. Give me a mountain view, or the sound of a rushing river and I’m in bliss.

The challenge is to stay connected to the calm and joy of nature when you can’t be in that ideal location. What if your life requires a city address, too-close neighbors, and daily chores that threaten to suck the energy right out of you?

Over the years, I’ve found some simple ways to sneak a little bit of the outdoors into my life, no matter where I am. OK- I can’t transplant a Redwood into my den, or afford a home next to the crashing waves. What I can do is to figure out what it is about nature and the outdoors I love most, and find some small ways to incorporate that into my daily life.

1. Plants and foliage. Maybe watching leaving gently swaying out your window allows you to breathe more deeply. Maybe cacti and sand is therapeutic. Or maybe the scent of hydrangeas lights up your brain cells. Even in the tiniest city apartment you can find ways to use container plants, an indoor potted plant, or a line of small cacti along your window sill to help connect you with nature.

2. Seating for one. OK, you might want some cozy space for two people to enjoy whatever bit of nature is visible from your current venue. If the only thing you’ve got going on is a breathtaking sunrise, place a porch swing in the best viewing place. Maybe your porch or back yard offers a view of some woods or simply a bit of solitude. Try those beach inspired, wooden, Adirondack chairs. The low seating and optional footrests almost insist on relaxation and bring thought of ocean side enjoyment.

3. Bird and Bees. No, I mean the real birds and bees! Try setting out a bird feeder to invite some of nature’s ambassadors to your home. If you really are against trying to attract bees, how about some butterflies? Certain plants are very attractive to these winged beauties.

At the end of the day, your ability to function in the real work is directly connected to how well you are able to unwind, relax and put things in perspective. So, go ahead and plan for a trek along the Long Trail of the Northeast. Gear up for a cross country bike riding expedition in the western mountain trails. Or maybe make plans to visit the wild horses on Georgia’s Cumberland Island.

Until you get there, make sure to find some way to stay connected to the outdoor life. For many of us, it’s what makes the rest of life shine.

Stop Blushing: How Hypnosis Gets Blushing to Stop

Written by MarkC on Thursday, September 4th, 2008 in Self Help.

Natural Cures for Blushing

Many people want a natural cure for blushing. If you are among these individuals then you probably think that you have limited options. If you want to stop blushing now, consider some of the following natural treatments.

Following are three natural approaches to dealing with facial blushing. You can weigh your options to find the blushing treatment that is right for your specific needs.

Self Help

A natural cure for blushing begins with self-awareness. You can find remedies for blushing problems by delving into your own mind. Consider the situations that cause you to blush and take notes. This new awareness of your conditions is empowering and can lead to a natural remedy for your blushing problem.

Blushing Mentors

Many people have found ways to stop blushing. You can find a blushing mentor who can give you sound advice on this topic. This intuitive individual can offer insight and handy tips that you may find helpful as you try to overcome your condition.

You have probably had mentors in various stages of your life. Perhaps you have served as a mentor to someone at some point in time. A knowledgeable person can offer valuable information that can lead you in the right direction.

Publications

Self-help books come in a myriad of forms. You may be able to find natural cures for blushing in magazines, articles or books. This is similar to using a mentor without the face-to-face interaction.

Research is all-important when you want to take control of a condition like blushing. However, it is helpful to have some guidance as you try to deal with your blushing problems.

Therapy

Blushing may seem like an involuntary reaction to stimuli but there are subconscious elements that control this physical reaction. Therapeutic interventions are natural treatments for blushing that can yield excellent results. There are some things to consider, though.

Therapy can be quite expensive. You have to make and keep appointments that may not be convenient for you. The treatment may take a long time to work under certain conditions. You may spend more time and money in therapy than you anticipated.

The Fear Of The Fear

One of the main ingredients with blushing problems is that anticipation of the problem. In other words, someone who blushes regularly ‘expects to’. For example, if you suffer from excessive blushing and you know you are going to have to give a presentation at work, or meet some new people at a social function, then what you will inevitably do is worry, in advance, that you may blush. It is this worrying in advance that needs dealing with, and self hypnosis can be a very powerful method or reprogramming this ‘fear of blushing in advance’.

Blushing Hypnosis

Self-hypnosis is a powerful tool that you can use as a natural cure for blushing. This approach recognizes that blushing is fundamentally a psychological condition. It is important to remember that this condition is caused by the inner workings of the mind.

Your subconscious mind is always at work and it can have a strong influence on your actions and feelings. Blushing is just one example of the influence the subconscious has on your physical being.

Blushing hypnosis is ideal because you take control of your own subconscious mind. This approach not only helps you to stop blushing, it also helps you address the underlying thoughts and emotions that cause you to blush in the first place.

Owen Wilson Can’t Close

Written by DavidWygant on Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008 in Self Help.

Everybody is so caught up in what the celebrities are doing – and this weekend seemed to be a celebrity-filled weekend for me.

First, when I was out looking for a new house, I ran into Donald Sutherland. Apparently he was checking out a house he wanted to buy for Kiefer Sutherland – this really cool townhouse in Venice by this famous Southern Californian. I was looking at one myself when I ran into him.

It was interesting – I was doing my usual observational chitchat, and I looked at him and said, “great view!” He agreed, and smiled, and that was about it. He had great energy and a good persona, but it was obvious that he just didn’t want to be bothered.

But even more interesting is that my friend Hope and her friend Danielle were at Roberto’s Tacos (a famous taco stand in Encinitas) and they ran into Owen Wilson. Owen Wilson was checking out this girl Danielle, and then she said, “hey, what’s up?” – from a distance, she thought it was a guy she’d once dated.

Then she realized it wasn’t that guy, but Owen Wilson, and she played it cool. So he looked at her and said, “where am I right now? It’s beautiful! Where exactly am I? What’s the name of this place?” So he used the observational prop – really bonding with the environment and asking, “where is this beautiful place?” and just starting a conversation in that way.

They start chatting back and forth, and started flirting a little bit, and then she went inside and some little kid asked her if she knew who that was. She said she did, and the kids were awed. She went back out and to the other side of the restaurant – just like a woman, she ran from the scene!

He kept looking at her, and she kept looking at him, and what happened next? He walked over to the other side of the restaurant where she was eating her tacos and said, “hey, what are you doing the rest of the day?”

She responded, “I don’t know, I think I’m going to go back to my house and relax.” He said, “that’s great. So do you know any good beaches around here?” And she told him about a few beaches, and that was it!

She laid out the “going back to my house to hang out” kind of routine, he asked if she knew any good beaches – looking for the “sure, let me show you the best beach!” type of thing, and what it all boils down to is that Owen Wilson can’t close!

It doesn’t matter who you are in life – you might be a celebrity, a rich man, a poor man, a beautiful woman, a sexy woman, a chubby woman – it doesn’t make a difference. When two people are attracted to each other, many times both of them are afraid to take a step. Here is Owen Wilson, who makes tons of money, dated Kate Hudson, is full of confidence, and yet he couldn’t close a simple hot San Diego woman.

So once again – it’s time to stop thinking about and obsessing over celebrities, because they are just like you and me. Celebrities are just regular people with regular issues. They might act for a living, but that doesn’t mean that they know how to close a woman they are attracted to!

Are you going to be like Owen Wilson and not close, or are you going to be like somebody that I coach – someone who knows how to close when they hear an invitation? Someone who takes action – do you want to be a man who takes action?

Or do you want to be the woman that flirts a little bit harder and doesn’t run away from an opportunity to hang out with your Owen Wilson?

The choice is yours – but it all depends on how you want to handle it. In reality, life is all about closing. If you are a woman, life is all about letting the guy know – maybe one more time – that you’re interesting in him closing you. You never know unless you try!

It doesn’t matter who you are – you can still be Owen Wilson. And Owen Wilson can’t close!

How to Create Your Personal Style

Written by JuliaSophina on Sunday, August 31st, 2008 in Self Help.

Every man needs a way to set himself apart from the crowd. Women look for men who take the initiative, and develop their own unique style. There’s no simple way to accomplish this goal; instead, it’s important to combine multiple aspects into one meaningful package. A number of different categories are involved in attaining this end goal, but we’ll focus on three major factors for the purpose of giving you a head start on attaining your own personal style.

Clothing: Your clothing has to reflect who you are in the world. Of course, it’s important to maintain different wardrobes for different occasions. You need to formulate specific dress codes for each situation. For example, work necessitates a certain style that is confident yet professional. Going out to bars and clubs requires dress that has more panache, and demonstrates to the world that you have a sense of style that is unique.

You don’t have to go all out and spend thousands of dollars in your first trip to the department store. Many of the items you already have in your closet can be used to compliment the clothing that you’re adding. Considering that retro is more in than ever, it’s certainly possible that some of the stuff hidden under your bed that you haven’t worn since high school is back in high fashion.

Perhaps even more important than your choice of clothing is the way you wear it. Even if you’re wearing expensive, designer clothes, you’ll immediately be discounted if there are obvious stains. It almost doesn’t need to be stated (or at least it shouldn’t), but personal hygiene is an important component on the path towards style.

Your Scent: This is generally under appreciated and underrated, in terms of creating the unique you. Many men don’t even wear cologne, but this is a useful tool for making the ladies swoon. In time, those close to you will begin to automatically associate your signature scent with the new, powerful you. Essentially, mastering your scent represents a secret weapon for redefining everything you stand for. That’s not mentioning that cologne is an extremely sexy aphrodisiac for most women. Applied appropriately, they won’t be able to resist-really, they won’t know what has hit them.

Attitude: This is probably the most crucial part of developing your personal style. You can’t run around acting silly all the time. That kind of behavior would completely undermine the strides you’ve taken in other areas such as clothing. You need to always maintain a refined attitude, making sure never to show anger or fear in public. You’ll be surprised by how quickly people begin to take you seriously if you do the same. No one will appreciate the “new you” if you don’t have that high opinion of yourself.

Combine all of these standards, and you’ll have the recipe for success. Transformation probably won’t take place overnight, but if you maintain a constant vigil, you’ll look into the mirror someday soon and find yourself shocked at the sight of the new, better you.

How you smell is just as important as how you look. In fact sometimes it can be more important. Smell has a way of effecting people in ways looks never could. Start effecting people with designer perfumes at: http://www.uniqueperfumes.com/

The difficulty of certain tasks often provokes a desire to delay or otherwise waste time before getting down to business. This impulse to procrastinate can affect people’s lives as an occasional temptation or as a nearly irresistible habit, depending on the temperament of the individual.

In three particular areas of activity, namely college, business and home life, procrastination can have an especially detrimental effect. A closer look at the underlying factors for procrastination in each of these settings can help illuminate some of the influences in the decision to procrastinate.

For many students, procrastination emerges as a significant problem during the first years of college. The college procrastinator is frequently an individual who, for one of several possible reasons, did not learn effective time management strategies during high school. Often accustomed to high school assignments that are strictly short term or that have been broken down into a series of smaller assignments by the high school teachers, the college procrastinator is at a loss to adjust to college’s long term assignments.

In some cases, the college procrastinator underestimates the difficulty of a term paper or end-of-semester project because the professor does not constantly remind the class about the upcoming deadline. For this reason, the difficulties faced by the college procrastinator can be seen as a failure to adjust from a structured, regulated learning environment into an environment where independent time management skills are necessary. Once the need for discipline and organization has been recognized, a few simple tools, such as a day planner, can help the college procrastinator organize a self-structured series of goals and deadlines for long-term assignments.

Whereas the college procrastinator might put off a difficult assignment by playing computer games or socializing, the business procrastinator is often more subtle in his or her strategy. Rather than engaging in meaningless amusements, which might be punished if discovered, the business procrastinator often wastes time on activities that are in fact part or his or her job description but that are not the most important tasks at the moment.

In some instances, a lack of confidence in the ability to successfully complete difficult assignments compels the business procrastinator to pursue easy, straightforward minor tasks. In other situations, an inability to distinguish between high- and low-priority assignments causes the business procrastinator to perceive that the simple tasks are just as important as the complicated ones, leaving the business procrastinator no reason to pursue the more difficult tasks.

To remedy this circumstance, the business procrastinator first must learn to recognize which tasks have the most potential to impact the success of the business itself and to affect the course of business in the long term. Once this has been accomplished, the business procrastinator can break down long-term, complicated tasks into a series of manageable deadlines so that they are not quite so overwhelming.

Rather than being unable to face a deadline, the home-life procrastinator is often uncomfortable with the never-ending nature of daily home-related tasks. Yard work, home repairs, cleaning and meal preparation can all assume the uninspiring role of routine inconveniences in a person’s life.

As unfinished chores accumulate over time, the home-life procrastinator begins to feel the pressure of house work intruding on the joys of everyday life. To counter this situation, a specific time should be set aside each week to schedule a reasonable number of weekly chores. By naming which tasks should be accomplished on which day, the home-life procrastinator can gain control over the amount of work. And by limiting certain tasks to certain days, the procrastinator can stop feeling guilty about any unfinished chores provided that he or she has accomplished the chores set aside for the present day.

Olympics an Education in How to Go for the Gold

Written by Dr.Stephen on Friday, August 29th, 2008 in Self Help.

When Michael Phelps started shattering the Gold Medal record for the 2008 Olympics he gave everyone an education in persistence. Surely Michael practiced by swimming hundreds of laps to gain the endurance and expertise required to succeed. Something had to come from within to inspire him to diligently swim at a high level every time he jumped into a pool. Winning can breed winning when there is an expectation of success. It is clear that Michael Phelps expects to dominate the field of swimmers each time he dives into a pool. He is not looking to the left or right to see his competitors he is always looking straight ahead. Michael’s goal is right in front of him and he is steadfast in his desire to collect every Gold Medal that he can.

Olympians learn how to pay attention to details that are important aspects of winning. They never take a day off from practice. They understand that there are hundreds of other athletes who are practicing eight to twelve hours a day to try to get an edge during their next competition. A slight movement in a body position while in the water can determine how fast a swimmer can increase their speed.

There is a great lesson to learn from Olympians. It is important for personal growth. Olympians that win Gold Medals learn how to master their fears. They understand that fear is “false evidence that appears real.” They spend a lot of time contemplating in their mind first how they will overcome their fears. Giving in to fear can take away from a person’s physical and mental health. Olympic athletes frequently go to the doctors to report pains that they cannot explain. Ongoing fear can result in stress that strips ones confidence in any of life’s endeavors.

A great strategy that the athletes use is to take the limits off their thought life. They know that past failures can serve as a marker to identify a new method to accomplish their goal. Olympians accept challenges as a fact of life. It’s amazing how they wait for four years to perform in one or more events. It takes real determination and continuous competition around the globe to measure an Olympian’s abilities. Olympians must have nerves of steel to overcome any anxiety they experience when they are ready to start any event. Olympic athletes participate in a competition in a world where a tenth of a second makes a difference between a Gold or Silver Medal.

Individuals who participate in the Olympics teach students of all ages the value of persistence. Many of the fears that the students have are based on past challenges in the classroom of life. Always be ready to pick yourself up and to prepare for the next challenge. Michael Phelps is an example of how to approach each learning experience with enthusiasm and excitement about your potential accomplishments. Each day is an opportunity to move one step closer to your goal. Just like the top athlete you can go for the Gold if you practice and persist.

For twenty-six years, Dr. Jones has delivered presentations on numerous topics including how to study, leadership, effective communication, and innovative management practices. He is the author of two books one is titled
