No one likes the run around when they try to buy something particularly when buying on the web. After all, the purpose of buying online is to buy things in an easy manner. If it ceases to be simple then why buy online at all?

Online commerce has grown to a level many thought impossible a decade ago. Today, billions of dollars flows through internet commerce every year. This is in large part due to the streamlining the buying process. A decade ago, commercial websites were not interactive and consisted of little more than an electronic version of a magazine ad.

Such mail order purchasing is a cumbersome process and that is why internet commerce was minimal in the early days. Today, the way in which people can buy online is much easier. That is why they buy in such volumes. Yet, there are still those who employ a website design module that is ten years out of date. So, let’s take a look at the Alberta website design methods that are much easier for people to make purchases.

First and foremost, the Alberta website designers must make it apparent that the website is a commercial venture. Poor web development, for example, may be loaded with lots of cool graphics and interesting text but the actual items that are for sale are presented in a peripheral manner as opposed to the focus of the site. Needless to say, such website development is very weak and will not facilitate any profits.

A solid Alberta website design, however, can clearly identify the products or services that are offered. The description will be clear and properly illustrated. If you are selling boxing gloves, for example, you would need to provide a photo of the gloves; the manufacturer should be identified; the different weights of the various gloves; the different colors the gloves come available in; and, of course, the price of the gloves. In short, the potential customer knows EXACTLY what he is buying. If a person is provided with proper information then the person will be less likely to dismiss the purchase.

Now, here is the absolutely MOST CRITICAL aspect of commercial Alberta website design. The website positively must have reliable shopping cart software installed. Without such software the ability to make a purchase is made much more difficult. The first time a customer buys from your site all they will need to do is plug in vital purchasing information such as credit card info, mailing address, etc. This info can then be saved on the cart’s memory so the next time a visitor wants to make a purchase they can do so with one click. Such ease of use makes customers much more likely to buy.

Ultimately, that is the goal of stream lining Alberta website design for commercial sites. You want to make it as easy as possible for customers to purchase. When the process is easy then the ability to sell more items becomes much simple.

Bad breath, or Halitosis is a pretty common ailment or condition, and probably turns people away from those that have it faster than if that person had passed gas but, not always. It is difficult to be in a close conversation with a person that has bad breath. It is immediately nauseating. One often feels like they will throw up if they don’t get away. Controlling ones response and getting away is difficult to do without embarrassing that person or seeming to be rude and uninterested in the conversation, especially if it is your boss, a superior or perhaps your lover. So, how does one handle it.

First of all you should understand the causes of bad breath, because when you are suffering with bad breath, it can affect your personal life as well as your professional life. Most people have the worst breath in the morning when they first wake up. You may be okay for a few hours after you brush, but as the day progresses, the stink of bad breath may creep slowly back into your mouth and make the people you deal with cringe.

Sometimes bad breath is caused by the food you eat such as garlic or onions and you will probably notice It right after you have eaten. Other causes are smoke from cigarettes or cigars and alcoholic beverages.

Some people have chronic or persistent bad breath. This is usually a medical problem. These people usually have good oral hygiene and don’t know that they have bad breath, or if they do, they may not know what to do about their condition.

But, the most common cause is from a bacterium that is naturally present in your mouth that feeds off food particles left over from when you last ate.

Most bad breath situations can be taken care of by taking good care of ones teeth and perform good oral hygiene. People who know that they have a problem with foul breath should recognize the fact and take care of the problem to the best of their ability. If they can not handle the problem on their own they should seek professional help.

When a person is faced with speaking or dealing with another person who is unaware of their halitosis it is important to address the situation rather than get away from it, especially if it is constant or chronic. Sometimes a person has a medical problem that causes them to have bad breath and they are completely unaware of the odor in their mouth or the medical problem. By telling someone they have halitosis a person may be saving another person’s life – at least their social life. This may be a difficult conversation to initiate but it is important.

One way is to tell them without being direct is to bring up the subject by asking them if you have bad breath. Say your mouth tastes like maybe you do. You might find that you do. Perhaps they will ask if they too have bad breath. You will have to get a snoot full to test, but then you can tell them they do. If they consistently have bad breath, you can add that they seem to have it frequently. If doing this is embarrassing, and you have some mints or gum, take some out for yourself and offer them a piece. The mints or gum may clear the air for awhile, and perhaps they will take the hint. If the above approaches don’t work and this is someone you associate with frequently, you will have to be direct and just come out and tell them they have bad breath and how often. If their bad breath is frequent tell them so and suggest they see a Dentist or Dental Hygienist.

Don’t shun your friend. Remember, we all have bad breath from time to time.

3 Easy Tips That Will Make Dog Training Sessions a Success

Written by AnnetteMasse on July 6th, 2008 in Pets.

There are many dog trainers that claim it isn’t necessary to correct your dog. They believe that most bad behaviors can be reversed, simply by the absence of a reward. However, you should know that if they are left unchecked, there may come a time when it will be nearly impossible to correct those bad behaviors.

These are three important rules to help your dog behave well. Like other doggish behaviors, barking can be very self-reinforcing. The dog is receiving positive reinforcement when he hears himself bark. So, it is a true challenge to be able to make the dog stop barking without employing negative reinforcement.

When training a dog, you must utilize both negative and positive reinforcements; there’s no way around it.

Here are three simple rules:

1. “No” should not be the only word you use to tell your dog he has done something wrong. If you consider the implications of this, it will make sense to you. Saying the word “NO” whenever the dog does something bad, like peeing under the kitchen table or jumping up on and barking at a strangers is just not effective. The dog cannot comprehend this, because you are using the term “NO” much to broadly. Your dog will hear the word, but be unable to associate with any one specific act. It could mean don’t bark, but it could also me don’t do a hundred other undesirable things. You can see how this would be confusing to your dog. Instead of using the generic term “NO”, try using specific commands that will encourage the behavior you desire. “OFF” is a good command to use when you want your dog to stop jumping on someone. Another helpful command is “QUITE”, when you want your dog to stop his relentless barking.

2. The dog’s name should be a positive word, so do not use it when punishing the dog or otherwise speaking harshly to it. The dog can tell from the tone of your voice if you are speaking in a positive or negative manner, so if you are using it in a negative tone they may not come when you say it. I can give you an example of how this works from my personal life. My real name is “Anette”. But as a child, my mother called me “Mary Jane” when I did something wrong. I associated “Mary Jane” with being in trouble, and when I heard those words I wanted to run the other way and hide. If your dog begins to associate his name with being in trouble, he will run away from you, instead of coming when he’s called. You can see where this would be very problematic.

3. Make sure that you have a distinct, and easily differentiated hand signal for each command. If you use just a single signal for a variety of commands, the result will be a very confused dog.

Try to use different words for different behaviors.

Let us see some examples.

* Ready - Look my way

* Sit - Sit

* Stay - Stay where you are

* Down - Lay down

* Come - Come over to me

* Drop - Let go from your mouth

* Ouch - Take your mouth off my hand

* Kennel Up - Go to your kennel

Plan ahead and know what you expect from your dog. Masters need to become more goal oriented and focus on helping their pooch become the best he or she can be. You will both enjoy each other more for it.

Organizing Your Home Office in 15 Minutes a Day

Written by JillBorash on July 6th, 2008 in Home Management.

Do you work from home? Do you have trouble keeping your home office organized? Learn how 15 minutes at the end of every day can get you organized and on track.

Keeping your home office organized when you work from home can be a real challenge. Because not only does your work end up in your home office but pieces of your home life often end up in there too. So how can you keep it under control? Spend just 15 minutes at the end of every day keeping your home office organized.

Spend 5 minutes getting the “stuff” off of your desk

If your desk at home is anything like mine, things tend to just build up there. I clean it off daily but paper and other things end up on it by the end of the day. Organizing a home office and keeping it organized means that you need to keep your desk area clear. Try to make sure that the only things on your desk are things that you need frequent access to and are projects that you are currently working on. Everything else needs to go.

At the end of the day, take everything off of your desk. Only put back those things that you need for the projects that you are working on tomorrow. For me, this helps clear my brain and get me clear on what I need to do the next day. It is a good way to put your work day to bed.

Spend 5 minutes getting rid of the things that do not belong in your home office

Organizing your home office at the end of the day also means getting stuff out of your home office that does not belong there. When you work from home, there are often things that end up in your home office that would never end up in an office at a work building. Toys, laundry, and cat toys are all things that have ended up in my home office at the end of the day. It is not always easy to separate work space from home space but make sure that this happens at the end of your day. Anything that ended up in your home office that does not belong there needs to go to it’s proper home at the end of the day.

Spend 5 minutes creating an “action plan” for the next day

This is more of a time management tip than a home office organization tip but it is a good tip nevertheless. Spending time at the end of the day that gets your head straight about what you need to be doing tomorrow is time well spent. I know that I get far more done in a day when I do this. It helps get your priorities straight for the next day and gives you a game plan to follow. I try not to spend more than 5 minutes at the end of the day doing this because otherwise I end up with a list a mile long of things I need to get done. This action plan for the next day needs to be a realistic one. If you have time, it is also helpful to prioritize that list.

These Are 3 Easy Steps to Ensure Dog Training Success

Written by AnnetteMasse on July 6th, 2008 in Pets.

Some dog trainers will say you don’t need to correct your dog. They will often advise you that the absence of a reward is usually enough to cure most problem behaviors. Occasionally behaviors become so bad that they are virtually irreversible.

The three following rules will help make your dog a well behaved pet. Barking is a good example of a dog behavior which tends to be highly self-reinforcing. Barking is a positive reinforcement for the dog. It is unlikely a dog will stop barking without using negative reinforcement.

Using both positive and negative reinforcements are necessary tools for training your dog.

Here are three easy tips to remember:

1. Refrain from using the word “no” every time your dog does something incorrect. The reason will become apparent if you give it some thought. If you say “NO” when the dog pees on the floor and then say “NO” when the dog jumps on a stranger entering the house and then say “NO” when the dog refuses to stop barking, this only confuses the dog. The dog will not comprehend the meaning. The dog tries to figure out what its master means when he/she says the word “NO.” Could it mean don’t jump? Does is mean stop barking? For example, a better command would be “OFF” if your dog is a jumper, or utilizing the word “QUIET” to end its barking.

2. Don’t scold the dog by using his name in a negative way. This could be problematic later on when you are trying to call your dog, and it won’t come because it has associated it’s name with being in a state of trouble. I can apply this reasoning to my own experience. When I was born, I was named Annette. But, if I did something wrong, my mother called me “Mary Jane.” When I heard the words “Mary Jane” I knew instantaneously it was negative, and I wanted to run the other way. This is exactly how your dog will feel.

3. If you use hand or finger signals to train your dog, be sure that each hand or finger signal is associated with one command. Using one hand signal for multiple commands will greatly confuse your dog.

Each different behavior should be matched to a different word. Several examples can be found in the following:

* When you want your dog to look at you, say “Ready!”

* “Sit!” commands your dog to sit.

* “Down!” will tell it to lay down.

* “Stay!” commands your dog not to move and its opposite,

* “Come!”, tells your dog to come to you.

* “Drop!”, tells your dog to take anything in its mouth out.

* “Ouch!” tells your dog to let go of your hand.

* “Kennel Up!” tells your dog to go to its crate.

It’s important for the both of you, that you have an idea of what you want your dog to become. You are the master, and you need to take positive action in helping you canine to best the best dog he can be.

Why Organic Baby Balms Work Better

Written by AmyNut on July 6th, 2008 in Parenting.

There are plenty of baby products on the market, many full of chemicals and artificial colors and perfumes to make them look and smell better. These chemicals tend to be harsh on delicate skin and parents in the know usually prefer organic baby skin care products such as organic baby balms.

Organic baby balms should be completely made of natural ingredients that are chemical free. Each ingredient has a specific purpose and it

The Christmas Store is Born

Written by JoeWillmeth on July 6th, 2008 in Business.

The popularity of Christmas tree decorating in America grew when import goods from Europe started to arrive in the 1870’s. In 1880 the popular department store owned by F.W. Woolworth was pleasantly surprised when the first import shipment of German Christmas ornaments was sold within a couple of days. The department store stocked chains of tiny Czechoslovakia beads, silver foil icicles and crinkly of wire tinsel which added sparkle to their Christmas trees. Tin metal Christmas ornaments, cardboard ornaments, and paper decor were popular in the Christmas department of the store until the 1900’s. In the middle of the 1900 hundreds Christmas stores were introducing a wider verity of injection molded plastic Christmas decorations. The low cost of injection molding plastics and the high volume of production kept the cost of Christmas ornaments and other Christmas decorations affordable to the American shoppers.

Christmas Decorations.

Christmas trees are usually the focal point in most of the American households. Decking the halls of our homes with garlands, wreaths and outdoor Decorations add a wonderful beauty to the holiday season. The tradition in America of hanging a wreath on the front door symbolizes a welcoming gesture to friends, visitors or guests. Christmas decorating in America has become so popular that it is very difficult to find a merchant that does not offer some kind of Christmas holiday decorations. With all the holiday activities of gift giving, holiday parties, home and business decorating it is no wonder that the Christmas holiday season is the best selling season for most merchants in America.

With all the modern advances in the Christmas decorating industry, decorating for Christmas has become an art form for many avid holiday decorators. It is surprising to learn that many homes in America have many Christmas trees on display. Children want to decorate their rooms with small lighted and decorated trees and are quite creative in their choice of themes. During the holiday season the magic of Christmas comes alive with the creativeness of the Christmas designers around the world. Because of the enormous selection of Christmas decorations available today there seems to be no rules when it comes to the personal selection of Christmas decorations.

An Original American Tradition.

The hanging of electric Christmas lights both inside and outside is an original American tradition. After the Thanksgiving celebration in America, Christmas tree lights and outdoor Christmas decorations start to appear on front lawns of many homes through the neighborhoods. Businesses even want to celebrate the Christmas holidays and will decorate their buildings and offices to brighten up the atmosphere for their employees and customers. This wonderful Christmas practice of lighting the front yards of homes with spectacular Christmas light displays makes driving through these colorfully lite neighborhoods a cheerful and delightful experience during the holiday season. Throughout the cold winter days of late November and December, there are many colorful Christmas light displays around every corner that bring the Christmas holiday spirit into so many hearts from the young to the old. Passerby’s of all descriptions enjoy the colorful beauty of the outdoor Christmas decoration lights. We might conclude by observing many homes, businesses and Christmas stores that the bells of freedom ring when it comes to Christmas d

Can You Answer the $64,000 Question?

Written by PerryMaisin on July 6th, 2008 in Career.

In the early days of television, there was a top ten show called “The $64,000 question”.

Players would be asked a series of more and more difficult questions. As the questions got more difficult, their price tag got bigger. The final one was the $64,000 question.

Answer that one and you were home free.

Sounds a bit like your last interview doesn’t it?

You know, the small talk is easy. Then you settle in and the questions get tougher and more specific.

You are concerned about making sure you know your business and can answer those tough questions.

You don’t pay much attention to the easy ones, like, “so - John, why don’t you tell me about yourself?”

Most of us don’t take that question seriously. We consider it small talk. We answer in generalities, cliches, and superficial comments.

“Well, there’s really not much to tell” -or- “when I was six my parents moved us to Montana”.

This question is loaded though, and should be answered carefully.

Here are some ideas:

1. Answer the question as it pertains to the interview at hand. Tailor your response to highlight relevant professional and/or personal accomplishments based on how the interviewer drives the discussion.

2. Focus on mapping your unique knowledge, skills and abilities to the perceived need of the employer. If the interviewer has shared an interest of theirs with you, seize on it, if you can. Never initiate a discussion based on personal interests though.

3. Ask the interviewer what they want to know. For example: ” Do you want me to focus on the major accomplishments at my current or last position or do you want me to provide an overview of my experience?

This may sound presumptuous, but the tactic helps focus the interview in your direction.

4. Answer the question with your two minute pitch. Make sure it is tailored to the industry and niche you are interviewing for.

5. If you are a career changer, provide an interesting, meaningful story about how you evolved in your career to this point. Integrate your transferable skills into the story.

6. Explain how your past life accomplishments and skill sets provide a smooth transition to the new career. Explain how you can add value with a fresh perspective.

When you analyze this question you can prepare an effective strategy to steer the interview in your direction. Successful interviews are ones that guide the interviewer and encourage him/her to ask the questions that you have the best answers for.

Your resume can be a great help in this process. Prepare a resume that highlights the accomplishments you want to discuss. When you answer the $64,000 question you can lead the interviewer directly to those accomplishments you want to promote.

Here’s why:

The majority of interviewers don’t read resumes before the interview. They just don’t have the time. Therefore, they will be happy to have you lead them through your accomplishments as long as you can integrate them into the interview framework.

The 30 second impression

HR professionals will tell you that most interviewers make up their minds (at least on a subconscious level), in the first 30 seconds. You can’t fight that cliche so don;t be concerned.

I like to focus on the ten minute impression.

In the first ten minutes you will be asked to “tell me about yourself”. How you answer this question may have a significant bearing on the outcome of your interview.

Your objective is to focus on your successes and ignore your failures. Measure the mind of the interviewer and align yourself with their values and culture.

The next time the interviewer asks you to “Tell me about yourself”, save the small talk and unleash your strategy.

Relaxation Training: A Healthier Mind and Body

Written by KarenHastings, on July 6th, 2008 in Wellness, Fitness and Diet.

Relaxation training is a therapeutic method that can be delivered to a group of people or on a one to one basis. Relaxation is thought to benefit conditions such as anxiety, panic, hyperventilation, insomnia, depression, and stress-related physical problems such as tense sore muscles and migraines. I am an occupational therapist and teach relaxation techniques during CBT Edinburgh.

Relaxation techniques tend to fall into two main categories: physical and psychological. Physical relaxation techniques include developing body awareness of tension in your muscles, body awareness of looseness in your joints, focusing the mind on allowing muscles to relax and biofeedback. There are several approaches within these and include Tense and Release, The Mitchell Method, Differential Relaxation, Passive Relaxation and Progressive Muscular Relaxation. Psychological approaches to relaxation include self-awareness, imagery and directed visualisation, self-hypnosis and autogenic techniques.

Relaxed breathing is a crucial part of all relaxation training and is usually used in conjunction with physical and psychological relaxation methods. It is taught at CBT Edinburgh. Breathing enables oxygen to be carried around the body and also removes toxins from the body when we exhale. Most people know this, yet we give little time to consider how well we are breathing. The chronic effects of not breathing effectively include poor concentration, fatigue, irritability, and physical problems that may affect the skin, hair and bones.

Tension and stress often leads to disturbances in the way that we breathe. In a person who is stressed or tense, breathing disturbances may include shallow breathing, panting, raising the shoulders and uneven breathing, forgetting to breathe and hyperventilation. These types of breathing styles are often present during the experience of a panic attack. The switching on of the “flight or fight” stress response disturbs the respiratory system causing breathing to become rapid and shallow. This is because the body is trying to take in more oxygen conversely, the opposite happens and less oxygen is absorbed. However, it is possible to turn off the stress response by using relaxed breathing. Relaxed breathing is slow and even and deep. It is done through the nose. Relaxed breathing promotes effective circulation of air around your body.

During relaxation the nervous system slows down and there can be a reduction in excitatory hormones, breathing rate, blood pressure, muscle action and heart rate. If you have a stressful and hectic lifestyle your nervous system (sympathetic nervous system) may be in a constant state of arousal, leaving you constantly tense. In this state your body is likely to react to small stresses and strains in the same way as it is programmed to react to real crises. Repeated episodes of flight or fight responses use up your energy stores. Learning relaxation skills is a way to break the depletion of your energy.

Relaxation is a skill and it doesn’t always come easily. It is worth learning to relieve stress, combat strain and tiredness and to promote your well-being. It can also lead to you feeling much more in control of your body and the peacefulness of your mind.

Karen is a mental-health occupational therapist. She teaches relaxation training during CBT Edinburgh, NLP Edinburgh and Hypnotherapy Edinburgh. Karen has a background in NHS mental-health care. Visit http://www.karenhastings.co.uk

Three Chiropractic Marketing Tips to Grow Your Practice

Written by Dr.Michael on July 6th, 2008 in Marketing.

With all of the options today for your practice, knowing which marketing strategies to use can be difficult. Here are three chiropractic marketing tips that you should look into.

Chiropractic Marketing Tips 1: The Internet

Who isn’t connected to the internet these days? People spend countless hours on the web just surfing, downloading, chatting etc. Why don’t you make use of this market by setting up your own website. Just set up a basic website first. A website that tells somebody about yourself, the services that you aim to give, and even a special offer to new patients.

Once you set up a website, you can ask current patients for testimonials to post on your website. These testimonials will help convince prospective patients that you are a real, caring doctor that has seen successful cases in your practice.

It’s important not to focus on building a fancy or pretty website. Not only will this cost you a lot of money, but it is not effective in getting new patients. It’s best to keep it very simple, yet focused. Your site for new patients should be easy to load and read. You want the new patient to call you to schedule an appointment, so your website should lead them to this action.

A simple web address that people will surely remember can be one of the steps that you can take. Aside from that, make sure that your site contains common keywords that your prospective patients will likely search for. The more keyword focused you can be on your website (within reason), the more traffic will be driven to you through the major search engines. When I teach doctors on how to set up their websites, I will recommend they focus their pages on keywords people are searching for in their area.

Chiropractic Marketing Tips 2: Radio

You can try radio broadcasting. Before anything else, figure out the market that you are targeting because this will play an important factor in the radio station that you will get, the time slot that you will play, duration of your ad, etc. As a tip, the time that most people drive to and from work are the peak hours since most people will be tuned to their radio. Although it will definitely reach a lot of listeners, this will cost you more money.

Chiropractic Marketing Tips 3: Yellow Pages

When people need help right now, they still turn to the Yellow Pages for a chiropractor. Once you decide to put up an ad in the yellow pages, make sure that you provide an attention grabbing headline. After the headline, a list of bullets detailing your services and how they benefit the patient. Also focus on what makes your office different. Keep the images small and to a minimum. You want to use the valuable space in your ad to convince the prospect to call you.

These are just a few chiropractic marketing tips that will help you get started.
